Punjab Driving License Fee Update: New Rates Apply

Updated :

The Punjab Traffic Police has introduced updated driving license fees for various vehicles, effective January 7, aiming to enhance road safety and compliance with traffic regulations. The new fee structure applies to cars, motorcycles, and rickshaws, with significant hikes in annual and test fees.

According to the updated fees, motorcycle owners will now pay an annual fee of Rs 930, along with a Rs 50 test fee, while rickshaw owners will pay an annual fee of Rs 880, with a Rs 100 test fee. Car and jeep drivers will face an annual fee of Rs 1,830, plus a Rs 150 test fee. These changes are part of the Punjab government's efforts to improve road safety and reduce accidents. To obtain a license, applicants must pass practical and road sign tests, submitting required documents such as CNIC, passport photos, medical certificate, and original learner's permit.

The significant increase in driving license fees, with a 791% rise for motorcycle licenses and a considerable hike for car licenses, is expected to generate revenue for the government while promoting responsible driving practices. The new fee structure is effective across the province, including major cities like Lahore and Rawalpindi, from January 1, 2025. With the updated fees, the Punjab Traffic Police aims to ensure that only qualified and responsible drivers operate vehicles on public roads, ultimately reducing accidents and enhancing road safety.

The introduction of the new driving license fee structure is a crucial step towards improving road safety in Punjab. With the updated fees and rigorous testing procedures, the Punjab Traffic Police is taking a proactive approach to reduce accidents and promote responsible driving practices. As the new fees come into effect, drivers are advised to familiarize themselves with the updated requirements and fees to avoid any inconvenience.
