Punjab schools, colleges, and universities will reopen on May 12 after a temporary closure due to Pakistan-India tensions, with the safety of students and staff being the top priority. The education department had suspended classes across the province on May 7 following Indian drone strikes, resulting in the postponement of major board examinations.

The decision to reopen educational institutions was made by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, who emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe environment for students and staff. The closure had affected various examinations, including Quran translation, ethics, and practical papers, which will be rescheduled with new dates to be announced soon.

However, Intermediate exams will proceed as per the pre-announced timetable from May 11, providing relief to students who were concerned about the impact of the closure on their examination schedule. The reopening of educational institutions on May 12 is expected to bring a sense of normalcy back to the province, allowing students to resume their academic activities without further disruption.

The Punjab Education Minister's decision to prioritize the safety of students and staff has been welcomed, and the education department is working to minimize the impact of the temporary closure on the academic calendar. With the reopening of educational institutions, students and staff can look forward to a return to normal academic activities, and the province can focus on providing a conducive learning environment.
