The Punjab Schools Education Department has denied rumors of an early summer vacation, with the scheduled break set to start from June 1, as the province struggles with extreme heat disrupting academic activities in small private schools.

The Sindh Education Department has already announced that summer vacations for all government and private schools and colleges in the province will start from June 1 to July 31, 2025. In Punjab, the situation is worst in schools set up in small buildings that lack proper lighting, ventilation, and other facilities, forcing parents to admit their children due to affordability issues. The Punjab government is considering closing schools due to the harsh weather, with a meeting expected later this week.

The Punjab Schools Education Department has advised schools to make precautionary arrangements, but many institutions have failed to do so. As a result, the department is left with the option of closing schools. Online classes were considered last year when a similar situation arose, and summer holidays are scheduled to start from June 1. The department has also denied the validity of a fake notification circulating on social media regarding summer vacation in public and private schools.

The heatwave alert has been issued, with the temperature expected to rise by 4-7 degrees Celsius, and the Punjab Schools Education Department will make an official announcement regarding the summer vacation schedule at the appropriate time. Parents and students are advised to wait for the official announcement and not to rely on rumors or fake notifications.
