Punjab Government Winter Vacations End, Schools Reopen January 13
Despite rumors of an extended winter break, the Punjab government has confirmed that schools will resume their normal schedule on January 13, with new timings and relaxed uniform requirements due to the cold wave in the region.
The provincial Department of Special Education has announced that schools will operate from 9 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 9 am to 12 pm on Fridays. This revised schedule aims to protect students from the cold weather, which is expected to continue in most parts of the province. Weather forecasts predict cold and partly cloudy conditions, with a chance of light rain and snow in certain areas, including Murree and Galliyat.
Abrar Ahmad Khan, President of the All Private Schools Management Association (APSMA) Northern Punjab, has reassured parents and students that private educational institutions will follow the scheduled reopening date of January 13. He clarified that there is no truth to the rumors of an extended break, and classes will resume as normal. The Punjab School Education Department had initially announced a 24-day winter break for all public and private schools, from December 20 to January 10.
As schools prepare to reopen, the government has also relaxed uniform requirements, allowing students to wear warmer clothing until February 15. This move aims to ensure the comfort and well-being of students during the ongoing cold wave. With the new timings and relaxed uniform requirements in place, schools in Punjab are set to resume normal operations, providing a sense of routine and normalcy for students and staff.
