UHS Awards Certificates in Medical Editing and Journalism

University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has awarded certificates to participants who completed certificate courses in Medical Editing and Medical Journalism, with top performers recognized for their achievements in the field.

The ceremony was presided over by UHS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Ahsan Waheed Rathore, who emphasized the importance of medical editing and journalism training to enhance research and publishing standards. The courses have been endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and have led to a significant increase in the number of HEC-recognized medical journals in Pakistan.

The top performers in the Certificate in Medical Editing course were Summia Khan, Ali Mansoor, and Qurat-ul-Ain Naqvi, while Afifa Ehsan topped the Certificate in Medical Journalism for Editors course. UHS has established a dedicated department for medical editor training, providing hands-on training and expertise to enhance the quality of medical research and publishing in Pakistan.

Since the launch of the courses in 2019, the number of HEC-recognized medical journals in Pakistan has increased from 10 to 72, demonstrating the impact and effectiveness of the training programs. Dr Rathore highlighted the importance of medical editing and journalism in enhancing research standards and promoting high-quality medical research in Pakistan.

The award of certificates to participants marks a significant milestone in the development of medical editing and journalism in Pakistan, and UHS is committed to continuing its efforts to promote excellence in medical research and publishing.
