Provisional Merit List UHS Released

Updated :

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has released a provisional merit list for admissions to public-sector medical and dental colleges in Punjab, featuring the top 4000 eligible candidates. The list is now available on the UHS website, giving applicants a clearer view of their standing in the admissions process.

The minimum merit required for MBBS admissions under open merit is estimated to be around 94.3%, with 3121 candidates likely to be admitted. This stringent criteria underscores the competitive nature of medical education admissions in Punjab. Candidates have a 24-hour window to submit objections to the list via the university's online portal, providing supporting documentation to ensure the integrity of the process.

In related news, admissions for 32 private medical colleges in Punjab are set to commence on January 21 and conclude on January 30, with the UHS managing the entire admission process to ensure uniformity and transparency. A meeting to finalize the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for private medical institutions is expected soon, which may include discussions on the anticipated reduction in tuition fees and the revised fee structure that the government is expected to determine.

The recent increase in quota seats for Capital Territory (ICT)-domiciled students in public sector medical and dental colleges, from three to 30 seats for the academic year 2024-25, is a significant development. This decision, influenced by the collaboration between the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and various stakeholders, aims to improve educational equity and address concerns regarding inter-provincial admission policies.
