The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced that the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) will be held on October 5 across the country, with a minimum required mark of 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS admission.

The decision was made during a National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health meeting, where concerns about irregularities in the entry test for Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University were discussed. The chairman of the committee suggested making 50% marks mandatory in the entry test, citing the issue of money influencing marks in Matriculation and FSC exams.

The MDCAT exam will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions across five subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning. The PMDC has started preparing a national question bank to ensure fairness, transparency, and alignment with current academic standards. This move aims to address concerns about irregularities and ensure a level playing field for all candidates.

The PMDC's announcement provides clarity on the admission process for medical and dental colleges, and candidates can now prepare for the exam with a clear understanding of the requirements. The test will be held simultaneously across the country on October 5, 2025.
