Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan PMDC Collaborate on Medical Education

A high-level delegation from Kyrgyzstan, led by Minister for Science and Education Kendirbaeva D.Sh, visited the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) to discuss potential collaboration in medical education, aiming to enhance the quality of healthcare professionals in both countries.

The delegation, which included the Kyrgyz ambassador, university rectors, and Higher Education Commission (HEC) representatives, met with PM&DC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj to explore opportunities for joint capacity-building measures. Dr. Taj briefed the delegation on Pakistan's medical education progress, highlighting the country's 186 colleges that produce skilled healthcare professionals. He explained that only graduates from PM&DC-recognized foreign institutions are eligible for registration and discussed admission standards and accreditation protocols.

The meeting between the Kyrgyz Minister and Pakistan's Education Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui in Islamabad also discussed the exchange of expertise for the development of digital learning platforms. The Kyrgyz Minister suggested collaborating on digital learning platforms to benefit from each other's experiences, which was welcomed by Dr. Siddiqui. He highlighted the potential for technical institution-to-technical institution cooperation and the use of digital platforms like e-Taleem and Teleschool.

The visit and discussions signify a significant step towards strengthening ties in medical education and digital learning between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan, with both countries aiming to enhance the quality of their education systems and contribute to the global medical fraternity.
