Weather Karachi: Heatwave Alert Issued for April 20-23
The heatwave is expected to reduce in intensity from Saturday, but Karachi will face a rise in heat intensity starting Sunday, with a heatwave-like situation predicted from April 20-23 due to a shift in wind direction, and a westerly wind system may bring rain and hail to the upper parts of the country until April 20.

A heatwave alert has been issued for Karachi from April 20 to 23, with maximum temperatures expected to rise 4-6°C above normal, exceeding 40°C, and humidity levels remaining around 50% during the day and 25% in the evening.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the heatwave, advising citizens to minimize outdoor exposure during peak sunlight hours, stay hydrated, and take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. Vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly, and women, are particularly at risk and should take extra precautions.
The heatwave-like conditions are likely to persist in South Punjab and parts of Sindh until June, posing risks to infrastructure and health. The public is advised to avoid direct sun exposure and stay hydrated to mitigate the effects of the heatwave. Intermittent strong winds and sea breezes are expected in Karachi, with maximum temperatures ranging from 35-37°C and humidity levels at 77%.
The authorities have urged citizens to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being during the heatwave. The public is advised to stay informed about the weather conditions and follow the guidelines issued by the PMD to minimize the risks associated with the heatwave.
