Shab-e-Qadr, also known as Lailatul Qadr, is being observed tonight, marking the night when the first verses of the holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad, with Muslims offering special prayers and reciting the Quran seeking blessings.

The night is considered holy, with angels and the spirit descending to bring decrees, and is believed to occur on one of the odd-numbered nights in the last 10 days of Ramadan, likely on the 27th night. Muslims will gather in mosques to offer special prayers, including Taraweeh prayers, Waz-mahfil, and doa-mahfil, seeking blessings for themselves, their families, and the nation.

The significance of Lailatul Qadr is also being celebrated globally, with Hagia Sophia in Istanbul hosting a special celebration of the Night of Destiny, a sacred event in Islam. The historic mosque, revered as a place of great spiritual significance, was filled with Muslims gathering for prayers on Wednesday. Similarly, a photo of Muslims praying around the Kaaba at the Grand Mosque in Mecca on the Night of Destiny was captured on March 26, 2025.

As Muslims observe Lailatul Qadr, they are reminded of the importance of seeking guidance and blessings from Allah, and the night is considered a time for spiritual reflection and renewal. With its rich history and significance, Lailatul Qadr remains a deeply meaningful and sacred event in the Islamic calendar.
