NADRA Launches Digital Pak Identity Card
The digital ID card will enable citizens to access services without physical ID cards, and the pilot project for a fully digital identity will be launched on August 14, 2025, marking a new era in Pakistan's digital transformation, with NADRA at the forefront of this innovation, providing secure and instant verification of various services.

NADRA has introduced Pakistan's first dematerialised digital identity card, allowing citizens to store their identity cards on their smartphones through the Pak ID mobile app, marking a significant milestone in the country's digital transformation.
The digital ID card is part of the Digital Economy Project, which aims to provide secure and instant verification of various services. A pilot project for a fully digital identity will be launched on August 14, 2025. This innovation is a testament to NADRA's commitment to excellence and its role in providing legal identities and promoting public service delivery.
NADRA's journey began in 1998, when the armed forces played a crucial role in establishing the National Database and Registration Authority. The institution was formed in 2000, with Major General Zahid Ehsan as its first chairman. Despite initial financial challenges, NADRA secured its financial independence by providing digital voter lists to the Election Commission of Pakistan, paving the way for a modern and comprehensive digital identification system.
The launch of the digital Pak identity card is a significant step forward in the country's digital journey, and NADRA's achievements have been recognized by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. As NADRA continues to set new milestones, its commitment to innovation and excellence is expected to have a lasting impact on Pakistan's digital landscape.
