A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, causing widespread panic among residents as people rushed out of their homes and business centers in the middle of the night.

The seismic activity, which had a depth of 17 kilometers, was particularly intense in high-rise buildings, prompting evacuations as a precautionary measure. The epicenter of the quake was located 8 kilometers southeast of Rawalpindi, and tremors were also felt in nearby areas, including Murree and parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Fortunately, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far, but authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety. This is the second earthquake to affect the region in recent months, following a 5.1 magnitude quake that struck Afghanistan's Badakhshan region in November, which was also felt in various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.

The recent earthquake has raised concerns about the region's seismic activity, and residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety in the event of another quake. The authorities are working to assess the situation and provide assistance to those affected.
