A 5.2 intensity earthquake struck several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on March 27, 2025, with its epicenter located at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, causing fear and panic among residents in Peshawar, Mardan, and surrounding areas.

The earthquake, which had a depth of 198 kilometers, was felt in various districts, including Shangla, Mingora, Chitral, Hangu, and Islamabad. Fortunately, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) and the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

This is the second major earthquake to hit the region in recent months, following a 5.1 magnitude quake in February that caused panic among residents. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority is closely monitoring the situation and has advised citizens to report any incidents on the emergency helpline 1700.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has assured that they are in contact with district administrations across the province and are taking necessary measures to ensure public safety. The quake's epicenter was located in the border region between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, within the Hindu Kush mountain range.

The authorities are on high alert, and residents are advised to remain calm and follow the instructions of the disaster management authorities. The situation is being closely monitored, and any updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
