Karachi Experiences 49th Earthquake Since June 2025

Two mild earthquakes struck Karachi on Friday, with magnitudes of 2.8 and 2.6, causing temporary panic in some neighborhoods, while a 4.4 magnitude earthquake hit parts of Balochistan on Tuesday, highlighting the region's seismic activity.

The first earthquake occurred at 5:28 PM, with its epicenter located near Korangi, and the second at 7:31 PM, with its epicenter near Malir. Both were low-intensity and did not result in any injuries or structural damage. Experts are monitoring the frequency of tremors along the Landhi Fault Line, which they believe are stress releases in the Earth's crust.

In a separate incident, a 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck parts of Balochistan on Tuesday, with its epicenter approximately 21 kilometers southeast of Pishin, at a depth of 12 kilometers. Although the tremors were felt in surrounding areas, there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The region is seismically active and experiences low to moderate intensity earthquakes, prompting authorities to remain on high alert to ensure public safety and emergency preparedness.

Karachi, being a densely populated city located in a tectonically active zone, is vulnerable to seismic activity. Residents are urged to stay calm but remain alert, especially in high-density and older building areas. Seismologists are closely monitoring the recent series of low-intensity quakes, but most have been too weak to be felt by the public.
