Shaban Moon Sighted, New Month Begins

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, has confirmed the sighting of the Shaban moon, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Shaban al-Muazzam 1446 AH. The first day of the new month will fall on Friday, January 31, and Shab-e-Barat, a night of forgiveness, will be observed on Thursday, February 13.

The committee held a meeting in Islamabad, attended by central and zonal members, as well as technical experts, to consider testimonies from zonal and district moon sighting committees across the country. The moon was sighted in various parts of Pakistan, including Quetta and Thar, confirming the start of the eighth month in the Islamic calendar.

During the meeting, special prayers were offered for national security, peace in Palestine, and rain. The confirmation of the moon sighting marks the beginning of a significant period for Muslims, with Ramadan expected to begin on March 1. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee's announcement provides an opportunity for Muslims to prepare for the upcoming holy month and observe Shab-e-Barat, a night of forgiveness and reflection.

The sighting of the Shaban moon is a significant event in the Islamic calendar, and its confirmation allows Muslims to plan and prepare for the upcoming months.
