A rare and breathtaking celestial event is set to occur on 25 January 2025, as six planets, including Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn, align in the night sky, forming a "parade of planets" that will be visible to stargazers in Pakistan and around the world.

This extraordinary alignment, which includes four bright planets and two fainter ones that can be seen with binoculars or a telescope, is considered rare due to the visibility of multiple planets on the same side of the Sun. Jupiter and Mars will be the brightest, while Saturn will be prominent, making it an ideal time for stargazing. The planets will be visible in the eastern sky around 19:00 UTC, with Mars and Jupiter easily spotted due to their brightness.

The "planetary parade" has been visible for most of January and will continue through early February, with all six planets visible on the same side of the Sun in a wide arc above Earth. The alignment is caused by the formation of the solar system, where the planets followed the same disc of gas and dust. The best viewing opportunities in February are at the start of the month, with Venus, Saturn, and Neptune visible in the twilight region of the sky along with a very thin crescent Moon.

A live stream of the event will be available through the Virtual Telescope Project, allowing viewers to see the planets in their marching order. Stargazers can also spot Mars close to the Moon on February 9, and witness it appear to reverse direction on February 24. With the Moon's position changing, the weeks leading up to January 21 offer optimal viewing time, making this a great opportunity for astronomy enthusiasts to witness this rare celestial spectacle.

As the planets continue to align in the night sky, stargazers in Pakistan and around the world are encouraged to grab their binoculars or telescopes and witness this extraordinary event. With its rarity and breathtaking beauty, the "parade of planets" is an experience not to be missed, offering a unique glimpse into the wonders of our solar system.
