Summer Game Fest Kicks Off with Big Reveals in the Gaming World's New Game

With the Summer Game Fest 2025 in full swing, gamers are eagerly anticipating the release of these new games, including Resident Evil Requiem, Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver, and Mortal Shell 2, among others. The 2025 Summer Games Fest has begun, featuring major console makers Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo, with numerous new game announcements, including Resident Evil 9, now officially known as Resident Evil Requiem, set to release on February 27, 2026.

The event, hosted by Geoff Keighley, included live gameplay demos, trailers, and developer interviews, showcasing upcoming games across consoles and PC. Notable announcements include a new game from RGG studio, set in 1943 Japan, and Splitgate 2, a colorful online shooter. Additionally, Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 was announced, with a beta test starting on June 20, and Guild Wars 2, an MMO, was highlighted with double XP this summer.

Other exciting reveals include Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver, a game that meshes Afro-surrealism and anime, featuring a soundtrack with classic Wu-Tang songs and new music from DJ Just Blaze. Onimusha: Way of the Sword got a new trailer showcasing its brutal combat, and Game of Thrones: War for Westeros was announced, letting players take control of the Great Houses and even the Night King. Arc Raiders secured an October release date for PC and consoles, and Hitman World of Assassination got an update with a new Elusive Target, featuring Mads Mikkelsen reprising his role as a Bond villain.

The Summer Game Fest 2025 also saw the announcement of Scott Pilgrim EX, a co-op brawler from original creator Bryan Lee O'Malley, and Mortal Shell 2, which kicked off the event with a gory and brutal look, releasing in 2026. Square Enix revealed Killer Inn, a new team-based social deduction game, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach got a new story trailer featuring Neil and Lucy. Furthermore, Wildgate, a space shooter from former Blizzard devs, is out next month with an open beta, and Stranger Than Heaven is the official name for Project Century, a game from Ryu Ga Gotoku.
