The temperature drop is expected to bring relief to residents, but the UAE's vulnerability to climate change remains a concern, with the country recording one of the highest temperatures this season, and medical professionals urging residents to take preventive measures to avoid heat-related illnesses.

The UAE is expected to experience a decrease in temperatures starting May 27, with forecasts indicating a possible drop below 40°C, bringing relief to residents after the country broke its May temperature record for the second consecutive day, reaching 51.6 degrees Celsius in Sweihan (Al Ain) on Saturday.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) forecasted light to moderate winds that may cause blowing dust, fog, and mist formation during the daytime. The desert nation, known for its high temperatures, is particularly vulnerable to climate change, with the temperature in Sweihan and Abu Dhabi exceeding the previous May record of 50.2 degrees Celsius, set in 2009.

The sweltering heat has taken a toll on residents, with motorists in Dubai reporting struggles with air conditioning in their cars. UAE hospitals are witnessing a rise in heat-related conditions, including heat exhaustion, dehydration, and sunburns, as temperatures soar above 51°C. Medical professionals recommend taking preventive measures such as wearing light clothing, carrying water bottles, eating light meals, and avoiding strenuous activity during peak heat hours.

As the UAE prepares for a potential temperature drop, residents are advised to continue taking necessary precautions to stay safe in the heat. The country's high temperatures are expected to remain a concern throughout the summer, with the National Center of Meteorology closely monitoring the weather conditions to provide updates and forecasts.
