Temperatures are expected to remain 5-7°C above normal in most parts of Sindh, while Karachi can expect hot and humid weather with temperatures ranging between 35-38°C. The PDMA has advised schools to take necessary precautions to protect students from the heat, including providing clean drinking water and proper ventilation.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has proposed early closure of schools and colleges in Punjab due to a forecast of intense heat in the next few days, with temperatures expected to rise significantly.

The PDMA has written to school and higher education authorities, commissioners, and deputy commissioners, asking them to adjust school timings and consider early closure in extreme heat. The authority has also advised schools to ensure availability of potable water, restrict outdoor activities, and provide proper cooling and ventilation in classrooms. Additionally, the PDMA has asked schools to set up well-equipped first-aid counters and train staff to deal with emergencies.

A severe heatwave has already gripped the upper and central parts of Sindh, with temperatures reaching 46.5°C in five cities. Met department officials predict that the heatwave will persist for a few more days, with windstorm/light showers expected in upper Sindh on April 10/11. The Punjab School Education Department has already revised summer timings for government schools, with single-shift schools operating from 7:30am to 1pm and double-shift schools running from 7:30am to 12noon and 12:00noon to 4:30pm.

The early closure of schools and colleges is a precautionary measure to protect students from the intense heat, and the PDMA is working closely with educational institutions to ensure the safety and well-being of students. The authority has recommended that Punjab's educational institutions start their summer vacations early due to the looming heatwave threat.
