UK Under Thunderstorm Warning with Heavy Rain Expected
Heavy downpours are forecast to move in from the south on Monday, with temperatures remaining mild, and rainfall amounts could reach 20-30mm in a few hours, with potential for up to 40mm in three hours, leading to a risk of flash flooding and disruptions to daily life.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms, expected to hit most of England and Wales tomorrow, bringing heavy downpours, hail, thunder, lightning, and gusty winds after the warmest start to May on record.
The warning, in place from midday to 10pm, covers almost all of England, from the South West to Kent, and parts of Wales, with almost 50mm of rain potentially falling in some areas in just a couple of hours. This could pose a risk of flooding, difficult driving conditions, and power cuts, prompting the Met Office to advise those at risk of flash flooding to prepare a flood plan and emergency kit.
The UK has experienced its driest start to spring in 69 years, according to the Environment Agency, making the impending heavy downpours a significant concern. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to sudden downpours following above-average weekend temperatures of 25-26°C. The rain is expected to clear by Tuesday, with dry conditions and sunshine returning across the country.
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for parts of England and Wales, covering areas including London, the South East, Midlands, and west of England. The warning is valid from midday to 22:00 BST on Monday, with up to 50mm of rain expected to fall within a few hours, potentially causing delays and cancellations to train and bus services.
As the UK prepares for the dramatic weather shift, residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The Met Office will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
