A cool and cloudy start to May is expected, with onshore flow pushing marine clouds into the area on Thursday, bringing misting and drizzle, and a chance of thunderstorms and showers, particularly in mountainous areas.

The foothills may see a few showers, and Santa Barbara or Ventura could also experience a stray shower, with rain amounts expected to be small and storms short-lived. By Friday, the area will begin to dry out, and clouds will redevelop along the beaches, with temperatures warming up slightly and highs in the 60s and 70s.

A warmer trend is expected to continue into next week, with a chance of showers returning this weekend, although rainfall amounts will be light. Temperatures will be exceptionally cool, potentially producing light snow in areas like Lake Cachuma and Tepesquet Peak. The weekend will see scattered showers, with highs in the 60s and low 70s, and Sunday may see a few showers early in the day.

Residents can expect a dry day on Wednesday to give way to a wet and unsettled pattern starting Thursday evening, with a warm front bringing showers, thunderstorms, and heavy rain on Friday morning, although the main commute should be relatively clear.
