Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has taken oath as the acting Chief Justice of Pakistan, assuming the role in the absence of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, who is on an official visit to China for the 20th Conference of Chief Justices of Supreme Courts of SCO Member States.

The ceremony was held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan, with Justice Munib Akhtar administering the oath. The acting CJ will oversee the court during CJ Afridi's absence, which is expected to last until April 26. The visit to China aims to strengthen judicial cooperation between Pakistan and China, with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) expected to be signed on training, information exchange, and collaboration in various legal areas.

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Yahya Afridi, will lead a delegation to the 20th Conference of Chief Justices of the Supreme Courts of SCO Member States in Hangzhou, China. The delegation will include other judges, and a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Supreme People's Court of China to enhance bilateral judicial cooperation.

The MoU aims to establish institutional linkages, facilitate capacity-building initiatives, and promote knowledge exchange in areas such as international commercial law, arbitration, and judicial technology integration. Additionally, Mr. Justice Shahid Waheed will deliver a keynote speech on the judicial application of artificial intelligence, highlighting its potential to enhance judicial efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.
