Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, a senior puisne judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, expressed confidence in the face of rumors surrounding references against him, stating that since he has done nothing wrong, he shouldn't fear the references, and that his work and the court's decisions are public record.

The comments were made during an informal conversation with journalists after the oath-taking ceremony of seven newly appointed judges to the Supreme Court. Justice Shah emphasized his faith, saying "Allah is the protector," and highlighted the efficiency of the court in handling cases. He also emphasized his cordial relationships with fellow judges, saying they often meet and share tea together.

The rumors were sparked by comments made by Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, who hinted at filing a reference against two senior judges of the Supreme Court. However, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar clarified that Prime Minister's aide Rana Sanaullah did not suggest filing a reference against two Supreme Court judges, but rather expressed his opinion on their "misconduct".

Justice Mansoor also expressed solidarity with fellow judge Justice Aqeel Abbasi, who was also mentioned in the rumors. The government has not made any statement about filing a reference against SC judges, and would inform the media if a decision is taken. Meanwhile, CJP Yahya Afridi met with an IMF delegation as head of the Pakistani judiciary, discussing the ongoing efforts to enhance judicial performance.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Supreme Court judges, the Attorney General, senior lawyers, journalists, and other officials, marking a significant development in the country's judicial landscape. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah's confidence and defiance in the face of rumors surrounding references against him reflect his commitment to upholding justice and the rule of law.
