Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has taken oath as the acting Chief Justice of Pakistan, assuming the role in the absence of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, who is currently attending a conference in China. The oath was administered by Justice Munib Akhtar at a ceremony held at the Supreme Court in Islamabad, attended by senior judges, lawyers, and officials.

Justice Afridi, who was appointed as the 30th Chief Justice of Pakistan on October 26, 2024, is attending the 20th Conference of Chief Justices of Supreme Courts of SCO Member States in Hangzhou, China.
During the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed between the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Supreme People's Court of China, aimed at promoting bilateral judicial cooperation in areas such as international commercial law, arbitration, cybercrime, and dispute resolution. This development is seen as a significant step towards enhancing judicial ties between the two countries.
In a related development, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has launched an Anti-Corruption Hotline, aimed at ensuring transparency and swift justice. This initiative is part of the court's efforts to promote accountability and combat corruption in the country.
