Vinod Kambli Receives Aid from Gavaskar's Foundation
The additional financial support will help Kambli cope with his health issues and provide a sense of security for his family, marking a positive turn in his life after a period of struggles, and is a testament to the cricketing community's spirit of camaraderie and support.

Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli is set to receive a monthly aid of Rs 30,000 from Sunil Gavaskar's CHAMPS Foundation, along with an annual medical support of Rs 30,000, in a move that will significantly boost his income and help him cope with his poor health conditions and financial struggles.
Kambli, who has been dealing with health issues and financial difficulties, will now have a monthly income of Rs 60,000, doubling his previous income. This is in addition to the Rs 30,000 pension he receives from the BCCI for playing 17 Tests and 104 ODI matches. The CHAMPS Foundation, which aids needy former international sportspersons, has come to Kambli's aid after Gavaskar promised to help him during the inauguration of legendary coach Ramakant Achrekar's memorial in December 2024.
Gavaskar had spoken to Kambli's doctor, who treated him earlier this year for a urinary infection and clots in the brain, to assess his medical needs. Kambli's wife, Andrea Hewitt, has thanked Gavaskar for the financial help, which will go a long way in supporting the family. Kambli, who scored over 3000 international runs for India in his career, including back-to-back double centuries in Test cricket, will also receive additional Rs 30,000 per year for health expenses from the foundation.
The move by Gavaskar's CHAMPS Foundation is a welcome gesture, highlighting the cricketing community's commitment to supporting its own in times of need. With this aid, Kambli can now focus on his health and well-being, without the added burden of financial struggles.
