Punjab Police Officer Honored for Diamond Portraits
With his unique artistry and dedication, ASI Ashok Kumar has not only earned a spot in the World Book of Records but has also brought international acclaim to the Punjab Police force, showcasing the diverse talents and skills of its officers.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav awarded ASI Ashok Kumar with the Director General's Commendation Disc for his exceptional artistry in creating diamond portraits, earning him a spot in the World Book of Records and bringing international acclaim to the Punjab Police force.
Kumar's work features portraits of global icons using American diamonds, or Jarkan stones, and has earned him a place in the World Book of Records. The recognition has brought pride to the Punjab Police force, with DGP Gaurav Yadav felicitating ASI Ashok Kumar for his exceptional craftsmanship.
Kumar, who began his career by sketching pencil portraits to make a living in Ludhiana, received a big break in 2003 when he gifted a portrait to visiting President Abdul Kalam, who was impressed and awarded him Rs 20,000. Kumar later joined the Punjab Police as a constable and has since set several records, including creating the largest painting of Guru Nanak Dev and making miniature portraits of women pioneers and Indian Presidents.
Kumar has also been honoured by the World Book of Records in Dubai and creates portraits of all Indian gods, transcending religious boundaries. He has expressed gratitude to DGP Gaurav Yadav and ADGP MF Farooqui for their encouragement, which has motivated him to continue pursuing his passion for art.
The award is a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of ASI Ashok Kumar, and the Punjab Police force is proud to have him as a part of their team.
