The first day of fasting is expected to fall on March 2 in Pakistan, while Qatar Calendar House has announced the astronomical start date of Ramadan 2025 as Saturday, March 1, 2025.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted the new moon to appear on February 28, increasing the chances of crescent sighting on March 1. In Qatar and Kuwait, the crescent moon is expected to be sighted on Friday, February 28, at 3:45am local time, and will be visible in the evening, setting 32 minutes after sunset.

The final decision on the start of Ramadan remains with the Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. The International Astronomical Centre notes that some Arab countries may see the new moon on February 28, with the holy month starting on March 1 if it is sighted, or March 2 if not.

As Muslims around the world prepare for the holy month of Ramadan, the exact start date will be confirmed by the respective authorities in each country, following the traditional method of crescent moon sighting.
