Ramadan 2025 Begins March 2 in Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that Ramadan 2025 will commence on March 2, as the crescent moon is not expected to be visible in Pakistan on February 28, with its age being 13 hours and 12 minutes at sunset, falling short of the required 19 hours for the Islamic month to begin.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the final announcement of Ramadan's start, while Saudi Arabia is expected to begin the holy month on March 1, as the crescent is expected to be visible on February 28. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the government will not include Utility Stores in this year's Ramadan Relief Package to prevent corruption and the distribution of low-quality goods.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the moon for Ramadan will be sighted on March 1, with the first day of fasting expected to be on March 2. The moon is expected to be born on February 28 at 5:45 PM, marking the start of the Islamic month of Ramadan. Globally, media outlets have suggested that the Ramadan moon will likely be sighted on February 28 in countries like the UAE and other Gulf nations, setting the stage for the beginning of Ramadan in those regions on March 1.

The start of Ramadan is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, and Islamic months last either 29 or 30 days. The holy month of Ramadan will officially start on the next day if the crescent is sighted on the 29th day of Shaaban (February 28). The UAE's International Astronomy Centre has also predicted that Ramadan will begin on Saturday, March 1, as the crescent moon will be visible in the sky the night before.
