WhatsApp to Allow Adding Music to Status Updates
The new feature allows users to add up to 15-second music clips to their status updates, with access to a vast music library through a collaboration with Universal Music Group, and is expected to increase engagement and make updates more dynamic.

In a move to enhance user engagement, WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that enables users to add music to their status updates, allowing for a more dynamic and interactive experience. This feature, currently available in the WhatsApp Android beta version, is a result of a collaboration between Meta and Universal Music Group, providing users with access to a vast music library.
The new feature allows users to search for their favorite songs, artists, or trending tracks and add a 15-second clip to a photo-based status or a video. The music duration will match the length of the selected clip for video status updates. This integration is expected to increase engagement with viewers and make the updates more dynamic, similar to Instagram's existing feature. The process of adding a song to a WhatsApp status is straightforward, with users able to choose from a large collection of songs, including popular tracks and singers.
The feature is currently in the beta testing phase and is available to select users on both Android and iOS devices. Once enabled, a music button will appear next to the drawing, text, and other editing options in the Status update option, allowing users to search for songs or artists and select a track to add to their update. The music clip can last up to 15 seconds for photo-based Status updates, while the duration is determined by the length of the video for video statuses.
As WhatsApp continues to evolve and expand its features, the addition of music to status updates is a significant step towards enhancing user experience and increasing engagement. With the feature expected to be released for all users soon, WhatsApp is poised to become an even more popular platform for social sharing and interaction.
