New WhatsApp Feature Enhances Home Screen Notification Control
This update will improve users' understanding of how unread messages and missed calls affect the notification count, and provide a more seamless experience with the new chatbot widget, enhancing overall user control and convenience on the new WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is developing a feature to manage home screen chat notifications more effectively, allowing users to choose whether to keep notifications visible until all unread messages and calls are seen, or reset them every time the app is opened.
The current feature resets the notification count on the app icon to zero every time the app is opened, which can lead to missed messages. The new feature, called "Show count until viewed", will let users keep the badge visible until they've manually viewed their messages, giving them more control over their notifications.
Additionally, WhatsApp is rolling out changes to its Meta AI chatbot feature, which will allow users to access the chatbot directly from their Home Screen through a new widget. The widget will have three shortcuts: one for instant question asking, one for sending a photo, and one for voice chat mode.
The new feature is still in development and will be available to all Android users in future updates, while the chatbot feature is currently available on Android and expected to be rolled out to iOS users in the future, providing a consistent experience across both platforms.
