Saying Goodbye to Old Switch
The wait for the next-generation Nintendo console is finally coming to an end, with the company announcing the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025. A first-look trailer has been unveiled, teasing a new design with a potentially larger screen, and a Nintendo Direct stream is set for April 2 to reveal more details.
Based on the trailer, the Switch 2's screen could be around 30% larger than the original, which had a 6.2-inch screen. This would put the new console's screen size at approximately 8 inches, although the actual size difference is difficult to determine due to the trailer's clarity. The Switch 2 is expected to use an LCD screen, which may disappoint some fans who prefer OLED technology, a key feature of the original Switch.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will support exclusive games for the new console, as well as certain games from the original Switch, although compatibility details have not yet been shared. To give fans a hands-on experience with the new console, Nintendo will be hosting events called Nintendo Switch 2 Experience worldwide, with host cities and dates already announced. Ticket registrations will begin in the near future, and a Nintendo Account will be required to participate.
As the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 approaches, fans are eagerly awaiting more information about the console's features, games, and availability. The April 2 Nintendo Direct stream is expected to provide more details, and the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events will give fans a chance to try out the console before its release in 2025.
