Residents of Peshawar are facing severe power cuts despite paying their bills on time, with areas like Hazar Khawani, Afridi Abad, and Ganj experiencing frequent power breakdowns, prompting protests and demands for immediate action from WAPDA and relevant authorities.

The protest in Mardan, a city in Pakistan, witnessed a massive public protest on Sunday against prolonged electricity loadshedding, with residents blocking roads, including the Mardan-Nowshera Road, to express their frustration over frequent and unannounced power cuts. The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) attributes the increased loadshedding to high losses on certain feeders, exceeding 80% in some cases, due to electricity theft and non-payment of dues.

However, Pesco has promised relief by reducing loadshedding to 12 hours for a 15-day period on 75 high-loss feeders. The company has also reversed its decision to increase loadshedding on certain feeders after protests in various areas of Peshawar. Residents of areas like Shaheen Colony and Swati Phattak have criticized the local lawmakers for failing to resolve their issues, despite their support for the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf party.

The situation highlights the need for effective measures to address the power crisis in Peshawar and other areas, with residents demanding accountability and relief from the authorities. The Peshawar Electric Supply Company's efforts to reduce loadshedding and improve its infrastructure are crucial in resolving the issue and providing relief to the affected residents.
