Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Free Solar Scheme Launches
The scheme provides sustainable energy solutions to 130,000 households under the Ehsaas Programme and Benazir Income Support Programme, with a focus on electricity-deprived and highly affected areas, and will be distributed on merit and through a lottery system.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a Rs20 billion solar project to provide 130,000 households with free energy, aiming to alleviate the province's electricity crisis and reduce loadshedding, particularly for underprivileged communities.
The project, inaugurated by Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, targets vulnerable groups and will be rolled out in two phases. In the first phase, 32,500 households will receive free solar units, including panels, batteries, fans, and lights, selected through an electronic balloting system from 2.5 million online applications. The scheme prioritizes vulnerable groups, including widows and transgender individuals.
The initiative is part of the government's efforts to provide sustainable energy solutions to the province, focusing on orphans, widows, disabled individuals, and transgender persons. The selected households will receive a solar panel, controller, battery, bulbs, and a fan, providing them with a reliable source of energy. The project aims to address power shortages in the province, particularly in areas that are highly affected by loadshedding.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa free solar scheme is a significant step towards providing sustainable energy solutions to the people of the province, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries. The project is a testament to the government's commitment to addressing the energy needs of the province and providing support to vulnerable groups.
