US Special Presidential Envoy Richard Grenell met with Sulaiman and Kasim, sons of former Pakistani PM Imran Khan, in California, urging them to stay strong and expressing solidarity with their father's cause as they campaign for his release from prison.

The meeting took place on July 22, 2025, as the brothers kicked off a campaign to secure their father's release, who has been serving a sentence since August 2023 in a corruption case. Grenell, a vocal supporter of Imran's release, cited millions of people worldwide who are "sick of political prosecutions" and encouraged the brothers to continue their efforts.

The meeting also included Dr Asif Mahmood, a Pakistani American physician and vice chairman of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, who has been involved in the PTI's campaign to win over Americans. The brothers plan to visit the US to highlight the injustices faced by their father before returning to Pakistan to join a movement demanding his release.

The Pakistani government has not officially commented on the matter, but Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik stated that foreigners are not allowed to assemble in Pakistan, and the brothers could face legal consequences if they violate visa conditions. The situation highlights the ongoing tensions and complexities surrounding Imran Khan's imprisonment and the international efforts to secure his release.

As the campaign for Imran Khan's release gains momentum, the meeting between Richard Grenell and his sons marks a significant development in the ongoing saga, with potential implications for Pakistan's political landscape and international relations.
