Kasim Khan Meets US Envoy, Seeks Father's Release

Imran Khan's sons plan to travel to the US to highlight the injustices meted out to their father, seeking support from the international community for his release. The US-Pakistan relationship has been a factor in the developments, with the PTI party's efforts to curry favor with the US administration yielding little progress so far.

Richard Grenell, a US envoy, met with Imran Khan's sons, Sulaiman Isa and Kasim Khan, in California, calling for the release of the former Pakistan Prime Minister, describing his arrest as a "political prosecution".

The meeting took place on July 22, 2025, where Grenell urged the brothers to "stay strong" and told them they are not alone in their fight. Imran Khan's sons are campaigning for their father's release from prison, where he has been serving a sentence since August 2023 in a corruption case and facing trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

PTI leaders continue to express concerns over Khan's prison conditions, with reports of poor access to basic rights and amenities. Grenell's comments come amid criticism from PTI leaders and rights activists over Khan's detention. The Pakistani government has not officially commented on the matter, but Minister of State for Law and Justice Aqeel Malik stated that the brothers, as British nationals, cannot participate in local political activity.

The meeting highlights the ongoing efforts by Imran Khan's family and supporters to secure his release, with the US envoy's comments adding to the growing criticism of Khan's detention. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the Pakistani government will respond to the mounting pressure.
