Air Karachi, a new private airline backed by Karachi's top business leaders, has received its Regular Public Transport licence from the Civil Aviation Authority, paving the way for domestic flight operations with a fleet of three leased aircraft and an initial investment of Rs5 billion.

The airline, led by CEO retired Air Vice Marshal Syed Imran Majid Ali, aims to enhance connectivity across Pakistan while laying the groundwork for global operations. With a focus on affordability, reliability, and customer-focused service, Air Karachi promises to provide a unique flying experience. The airline is expected to initially focus on domestic routes, especially underserved cities and key business travel corridors, with international expansion to follow in the second phase.

To commence operations, Air Karachi must deposit Rs500,000 and Rs100 million, raise its paid-up capital to Rs600 million, and acquire aircraft. The airline has also finalized an agreement with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for aircraft maintenance services, which will provide engineering services or MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) services to Air Karachi. This agreement was signed by PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat, Air Karachi Chairman Hanif Gohar, and Air Karachi CEO Air Marshal (Retd.) Imran Majid.

With its strong leadership and commitment to customer service, Air Karachi is poised to make a significant impact in the Pakistani aviation industry. As the airline prepares to launch its domestic flight operations, it is expected to provide a more efficient and financially autonomous alternative to existing airlines, and its agreement with PIA will ensure that its aircraft are well-maintained and safe for passengers.
