Mohammed Shami's sister, Shabina, has been found to be listed as an MNREGA worker despite being a millionaire, prompting an investigation into alleged fraud in the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Shabina's registration dates back to January 4, 2021, and she has received Rs 71,013 in her account for work done under the scheme.

The controversy has sparked outrage, with officials discovering that 507 job cards out of 657 in Palola village are inactive. Shabina's brother-in-law, Ghaznavi, has also worked under the scheme and received wages. Furthermore, the village head's family members, including his sons and a contractor, have active MNREGA job cards, raising questions about the implementation of the scheme.

An inquiry has been ordered to investigate the allegations, and the district magistrate has assured strict action against those responsible. The case has brought attention to the potential misappropriation of wages meant for MGNREGA workers, with Shabina and her husband accused of receiving funds despite being millionaires.

The investigation is ongoing, and the outcome is awaited. The controversy has raised concerns about the effectiveness of the MNREGA scheme and the need for stricter implementation and monitoring to prevent such alleged fraud.
