President Asif Ali Zardari presented the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup to the winning team of the 62nd National Open Polo Championship, DS Polo, after they defeated FG Polo 7-6 in a thrilling contest at the Lahore Polo Club.
The 62nd National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup saw DS Polo and BN/Newage Cables secure victories in their respective matches. In the first match, DS Polo edged out HN Polo 8-6, with Max Charlton and Lao Abelenda contributing four goals each. The second match saw BN/Newage Cables dominate Olympia/AZB 10-6, with Santiago Cernadas leading the charge with six goals.
The event was attended by a large crowd of polo enthusiasts, including former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan, and Bank Alfalah CEO Atif Bajwa. Awards were given in various categories, including the Best Pakistani Polo Player Award, Most Important Player Award, and Emerging Talent Award.
