The four mentors, Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Waqar Younis, were appointed by the PCB in August last year with a hefty monthly salary of Rs 5 million each. However, after the Champions Cup was scrapped, the PCB expected them to resign voluntarily, but they are now holding out for compensation of Rs 20 million, equivalent to four months' salary.
Meanwhile, Arshad Nadeem's victory has brought joy to the nation, with his massive 86.40m throw earning him the gold medal. This marks Pakistan's first gold at the Asian Athletics Championship in 50 years. Nadeem expressed gratitude to his coaches, team, family, and Pakistani supporters, saying the victory belongs to the Almighty and is fueled by their support.
The PCB, along with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, congratulated Nadeem on his win, praising his outstanding performance. Nadeem's coach, Salman Butt, also praised his performance, saying it was a good start despite a slow recovery between heats and finals. Nadeem will soon head to England to prepare for the World Athletics Championships, where he has yet to win gold.
