Pakistani Citizens Warned of Potential US Travel Ban

The potential travel ban could have significant implications for Pakistani citizens and other immigrants, with many facing uncertainty and potential restrictions on their travel plans. As the situation unfolds, it is essential for those affected to stay informed and seek guidance from immigration attorneys and other experts.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has issued a travel advisory warning Pakistani citizens and other immigrants from targeted countries to avoid leaving the US over the next 30 days due to a potential new travel ban. The warning comes in response to President Trump's expected new travel ban, which could include countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other Muslim-majority nations.

The new travel ban could restrict entry of citizens from Afghanistan and Pakistan, with a draft recommendation proposing a "red" list of countries whose citizens will not be allowed to enter the US. CAIR is advising those who are citizens of these countries to consult an immigration attorney, avoid international travel unless necessary, keep copies of important documents, and stay informed about their rights. The organization is also urging the Trump administration to reconsider any plans to impose a new total travel ban on Muslim-majority countries.

The potential ban is part of an ongoing review of countries' security and vetting risks and could start as soon as next week. The previous travel ban, issued in 2017, included eight countries, and it is likely that some of those countries will remain on the new list. The ban could affect tens of thousands of Afghan citizens who have been cleared for resettlement in the US, as well as Pakistani citizens who may be impacted by the new restrictions.

The situation is being closely monitored by CAIR and other organizations, with many calling on the Trump administration to reconsider the potential ban and its impact on lawful permanent residents, students, workers, and other immigrants from affected countries. As the situation develops, Pakistani citizens and others who may be impacted are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to protect their rights and interests.
