The US Embassy in India has issued a warning to students pursuing higher studies in American universities, stating that dropping out, skipping classes, or leaving their program without informing their school can result in their student visa being revoked and future US visa eligibility being lost. This warning is part of a broader crackdown on international students, amid mass deportation drives targeting international students and immigrants in the US.

The US government has emphasized that students on a student visa must maintain their academic status and comply with the terms of their visa. Failure to do so may lead to visa cancellation and loss of eligibility for future US visas. The warning is particularly significant for Indian students, as the US has already deported nearly 682 Indian nationals since January 2025, with many entering the country illegally.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has also issued warnings to students on Optional Practical Training (OPT) visas, highlighting the importance of complying with the terms of their visa. Colleges have warned international students against traveling outside the US to avoid visa cancellation, adding to the uncertainty and concern among international students in the US.

The US Embassy's warning serves as a reminder to international students to prioritize their academic commitments and comply with the terms of their visa. As the US continues to crack down on immigration violations, students must be aware of the potential consequences of non-compliance and take necessary steps to maintain their academic status and visa eligibility.
