The Trump administration is set to issue a new travel ban targeting 43 countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bhutan, with restrictions or prohibitions on travel to the US due to inadequate vetting and screening information. The ban aims to prevent terrorist attacks, national security threats, and exploitation of immigration laws.

The list of countries is divided into three categories: the "Red List" of 11 countries where no travel will be allowed, the "Orange List" of 10 countries where travel will be restricted but not completely stopped, and the "Yellow List" of 22 countries given 60 days to resolve perceived deficiencies. Pakistan, along with 25 other countries, has been placed on the "Yellow List" and may face a partial suspension of US visa issuance if it fails to address "deficiencies" within the given timeframe.

The proposed ban is based on an executive order issued by Trump on January 20, which directed cabinet members to compile a list of countries with deficient vetting and screening information. The move is part of Trump's plan to restrict immigration, which he launched at the start of his second term. The ban would impact tourist, student, and immigrant visas, with some exceptions, and is similar to Trump's previous ban on travelers from seven majority-Muslim nations, which was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018.

The new travel ban has sparked concerns and uncertainty among citizens of the affected countries, including Pakistan, which has dismissed reports of a travel ban as "speculative" and denied any official indication of such curbs. The Pakistani government has been given 60 days to address the perceived deficiencies, and it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming days.
