Murtaza Jatoi Freed, Blames Zardari for Jail Term
The Sindh High Court's decision to release Jatoi has been seen as a significant development in the case, with the court's warnings to government officials highlighting the need for adherence to the rule of law and protection of individual rights. Jatoi's release has also sparked hopes for a renewed focus on the issues affecting the people of Sindh, and his vow to stand against the "mafia" has resonated with many in the region.

Murtaza Jatoi, leader of the Grand Democratic Alliance, was released from Nara Jail in Hyderabad after 11 days, following a Sindh High Court order, and was greeted by hundreds of supporters who accompanied him back to his hometown in a rally.
Jatoi expressed his gratitude towards the judiciary, stating that most courts work freely despite government influence, and accused President Asif Ali Zardari of keeping him jailed with flimsy FIRs. He also blamed the provincial government for creating absurd cases against him, vowing to stand with the people of Sindh against what he termed as a "mafia" and to liberate them.
The Sindh High Court's Constitutional Bench had issued contempt notices to several high-ranking officials, including the Home Secretary and Inspector General of Sindh Police, for violating its order granting protection from arrest to Jatoi. The court warned of consequences under Article 204 of the Constitution for any further violation of court orders and directed the respondents to appear and explain why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them.
Jatoi's release comes after he obtained bail in multiple cases, including a murder attempt case, and was shifted to Nara Jail Hyderabad on February 18, 2025, for observation due to high blood pressure. He has also obtained bail in four other cases against him, and the matter has been fixed for further hearing on March 13.
Jatoi's accusations against the government and his determination to stand with the people of Sindh have sparked a new wave of political debate in the region, with many awaiting the outcome of the contempt proceedings and the impact it may have on the country's political landscape.
