Parvesh Verma Commits to BJP as Rekha Gupta Sworn In
Gupta's background in politics, having served as the president and general secretary of the Delhi University Students' Union, general secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha, and councillor from North Pitampura, will likely influence her approach to addressing the city's challenges, as she becomes the fourth woman to serve as Chief Minister of the city with a population of over 30 million people.

Rekha Gupta, a 50-year-old member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, marking the first time the BJP has controlled the local legislature in Delhi since 1998, while Parvesh Verma expressed his commitment to the party and its responsibilities.
The BJP's victory in the February 5 polls, taking more than two-thirds of seats in the local legislature, has brought an end to the 10-year-rule of Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, was chosen as the new Chief Minister, succeeding Aam Aadmi Party's Atishi. She will lead a six-member council with representation from various castes and communities that supported the BJP.
Parvesh Verma, a leader of the BJP, stated that he will carry out any responsibility given to him diligently, emphasizing his dedication to serving the people with utmost sincerity. He also reaffirmed the party's promise to fulfill its manifesto, particularly its vision of making Delhi a beautiful capital. Verma extended his gratitude to the people of Delhi for giving the BJP a chance to form a government after 27 years.
The new government faces significant challenges, including the city's air pollution crisis, which is considered one of the worst in the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Gupta on her appointment, saying he was confident she would work for the development of Delhi. The BJP is planning a massive ceremony for the oath of the new government at Ramlila Maidan, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressing confidence that the BJP government under Gupta's leadership will work to fulfill the hopes and expectations of Delhi's mothers and sisters.
