Ali Amin Gandapur Replaced: Junaid Akbar New PTI KP President

Updated :

In a significant development, Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, has removed Ali Amin Gandapur from the position of provincial president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, appointing Junaid Akbar as the new president of PTI KP.

The decision was made after Gandapur stepped down from the role to focus on his responsibilities as chief minister, amidst pressing challenges, including law and order issues in the province. Junaid Akbar, a member of the National Assembly, was recently elected unopposed as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and has been appointed by Imran Khan to replace Gandapur as the party's president in KP.

The change has been welcomed by many, with some hailing Akbar as a popular and effective politician who can potentially bridge the gap between the public and institutions. Akbar expressed his appreciation for the appointment, stating that his hard work and middle-class background have contributed to his success, which is uncommon in other parties.

Meanwhile, the party's central leadership has decided to assign Alia Hamza a greater role in the party, as Imran Khan wants her to have a more prominent position. The decision to replace Gandapur with Akbar is seen as part of the party's efforts to bring about organizational changes, including the potential appointment of former MNA Alia Hamza to a significant role in Punjab.

The development is expected to have significant implications for the party's future, as it looks to reorganize and strengthen its leadership in the face of ongoing challenges. With Akbar at the helm, PTI KP is likely to undergo significant changes, and it remains to be seen how the party will navigate the complexities of provincial politics under new leadership.
