The Provincial Ombudsman Sindh has ordered the removal of K-Electric CEO Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi from his position due to charges of workplace harassment, imposing a fine of Rs 2.5 million to be paid directly to the complainant.

A detailed inquiry found Alvi guilty of harassing a senior female executive, Ms Mahreen Aziz Khan, during her tenure at K-Electric. The allegations included pressure to attend private dinners and inappropriate comments about her body figure. The decision comes after Alvi was reappointed as CEO on July 7, 2025, despite the allegations, and was set to take office on July 30, 2025.

Sindh Ombudsperson Justice (retired) Shahnawaz Tariq ordered the removal of K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi over harassment charges, with the fine to be paid within a month. Failure to pay the fine will result in the seizure of Alvi's bank accounts or property, and his national identity card and passport will be blocked. The order was made in response to a complaint filed by Mehreen Zehra, a former chief marketing officer of K-Electric, who accused Alvi of harassment and mental torture.

Moonis Alvi has expressed deep concern over the ruling and plans to appeal the decision, stating that the findings "do not reflect the truth of the situation". Alvi emphasized his commitment to fostering safe and inclusive workplaces and intends to bring the truth to light through lawful means.
