NBC has canceled its legal drama series "Suits LA" after one season, despite efforts to boost viewership with the return of original cast members and a three-hour marathon of repeat episodes. The series, which aired on Sunday, was a spinoff of the long-running USA Network series "Suits" and starred Stephen Amell as Ted Black.

The cancellation comes as NBC needs to make space on its schedule for basketball coverage next season under its $2.5B a year deal with the NBA. The show failed to gain traction, with viewership hovering around 1 million viewers on linear in Live+Same Day. The show also did not perform well in streaming, despite the success of the original series on Netflix.

NBC has canceled a total of five series, including "Night Court", "Lopez vs Lopez", "Found", "The Irrational", and "Suits: LA". This is part of the network's largest single-season purge of scripted shows since the 2020-21 season. The network has a couple of billion reasons to cut costs, and the cancellations come as NBC prepares to announce its 2025-26 schedule on Monday.

The cancellation of "Suits LA" and other shows marks a significant shift in NBC's programming strategy, as the network looks to make room for new shows and prioritize its existing commitments, such as its deal with the NBA. The move also reflects the challenges faced by TV networks in today's competitive media landscape, where streaming services and changing viewer habits are forcing traditional broadcasters to adapt and evolve.
