The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) successfully thwarted an attempt by Indian fighter jets equipped with Rafale aircraft to advance towards Pakistan, forcing them to make an emergency landing in Srinagar due to effective defensive measures.

The PAF jammed the Indian aircraft's onboard sensors, communication, and radar systems, rendering them ineffective. The Indian aircraft were equipped with 200-km range missiles, but the PAF's J-10C fighters, equipped with 230-km range PL-15 missiles, were able to counter them. This incident highlights the PAF's multi-domain capabilities, particularly in electronic, cyber, and space warfare, which have allowed it to stay one step ahead of India.

Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif confirmed that Pakistani forces successfully jammed four Indian Rafale fighter jets during the attempted incursion. Asif stated that despite the incident, the threat from India still looms, urging continued vigilance. He also mentioned that Pakistan intends to approach the World Bank regarding the Indus Waters Treaty and questioned the motives behind the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

The incident comes amidst concerns over the Indian Air Force's (IAF) safety record, with 2,374 aircraft lost in crashes up to September 2023, resulting in the deaths of 1,305 skilled pilots. The IAF's fleet of combat aircraft is considered a major concern, with over 50 squadrons lost. The Indian government has been criticized for its handling of the issue, with several committees examining the causes of accidents and making recommendations, but little progress has been made.

The PAF's ability to counter the Indian Rafale jets is a testament to its capabilities and preparedness, and Pakistan will continue to remain vigilant in the face of potential threats from India. The incident also highlights the need for India to address its safety concerns and improve its air force's capabilities.
