Olympic hero Neeraj Chopra is set to host a javelin event in Bengaluru's Sree Kanteerava Stadium in May 2024, where he has invited Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem to participate alongside other top javelin throwers from around the world.

The event, organized by JSW Sports, will feature a number of top athletes, including Olympic medalists and world champions such as Anderson Peters, Thomas Rohler, Yulius Yego, and Curtis Thompson. Neeraj Chopra, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist, has expressed hope that Arshad Nadeem, his "frenemy," will participate in the event, but confirmation depends on his coach.

The competition, called the Neeraj Chopra Classic, aims to promote Olympic sports in India and provide a platform for local talent to compete against the best athletes. Neeraj Chopra has already spoken to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about the event, and the Indian government will be involved in Arshad's participation if he decides to attend.

The Neeraj Chopra Classic will be an annual event, with plans to expand to include more disciplines and feature top athletes from around the world. Neeraj Chopra also stated that he wants to bring a Diamond League event to India, which he believes is possible due to the growing popularity of athletics in the country.

The event will not only provide a platform for athletes to compete but also help popularize track and field in India, with tickets available for the general public to attend and cheer on their favorite athletes.
