Shah Mehmood Qureshi Leads Protest Against Canal Issues
The canal issue has sparked widespread protests in Sindh, with Qureshi and other opposition leaders criticizing the government's handling of the situation. The protests have also highlighted the ongoing infighting within the PTI leadership, with Qureshi urging unity and decency among party members.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi, a senior PTI leader, announced that he will lead a protest demonstration in Umarkot, Sindh, on April 14-15 against canal issues, criticizing PTI leadership for their inaction and PPP leaders for their silence on the issue.
Qureshi, speaking outside an anti-terrorism court in Lahore, claimed that he took action on the issue that PTI leadership couldn't while in power. He questioned the motives of PPP leaders, who remained silent on the issue until protests started in Sindh. Qureshi also thanked JUI-F and GDA for forming an alliance on the issue and criticized Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for being in Dubai while protests continue.
The protest is part of a larger movement against the government's handling of the canal issue, with PTI lawmakers staging a protest on the anniversary of Imran Khan's ouster from office on April 9, 2022. Omar Ayub, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, accused President Asif Ali Zardari of "selling out" Sindh's vital water resources during a secretive meeting in July last year to advance the Cholistan Canal project.
The protests highlight the ongoing tensions between the government and opposition parties, with Qureshi urging people to participate in the demonstrations in large numbers and demanding transparency and justice for the people of Sindh. The government's response to the protests remains to be seen, but the issue is likely to continue to be a major point of contention in the coming days.
